I have logged more time watching TV than ever in my life. I average an hour or two on the news, I just can’t take more than that. Beyond that I am watching more and more documentaries, which has been a bit of a savior.
On HBO I watched, True Justice: Bryan Stevenson’s Fight for Justice, a brave look into decades of mass incarceration and racial injustice. Two other documentaries on HBO that are a must watch are, Kill Chain (about election hacking) and Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered, The Lost Children.
On Netflix, I enjoyed watching The Innocence Files (about wrongful convictions), Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak (I know, but this will shed light on the fact that others actual pay attention to pandemics), Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness (mindless, but a welcome distraction), Who Killed Malcolm X (revisiting a moment in history) and Last Chance U (if you are mourning the loss of sports, I recommend this series). I almost forgot to mention two great finds, The Legend of Cocaine Island ( a redneck looking for drugs in Puerto Rico) and The Keepers (jaw dropping)!
On Amazon, check out What lies Upstream (think about the repeal of the Clean Water Act), Hunting Hitler (for those who like history), and Kings In Paradise: The Vieques Case (about Puerto Rico).
Other shows that you can watch on Youtube. Children of the Snow (shocking murder documentary) and The Devil We Know (pollution of of water system) – turned into the movie Dark Waters.
