It is truly Taco Tuesday! Happy Cinco de Mayo. Last night I stayed up super late to watch live baseball from South Korea. I have no idea who the players were, but it was baseball. There were no fans and a boy in a bubble. Best of of all the Korea’s actually encourage “Bat Flips”, “Bat Flips”!!!!!

Day 50 Back to Normal
As the debate about re-opening business swings from state to state, COVID-19 continues to claim lives. Without a vaccine, it is reasonable to conclude that a second or third outbreak will bring cities like New York, LA, and New Jersey back to square one. What price are we willing to pay for normal?
Day 47 A Day Off From Watching the News
Aside from being exhausted from being stuck at home, I am definitely done with the news. I was stuck on a 24×7 consumption of COVID-19 news for the last 50 + Days, so I took the day off. I think I was driven to take a break when I saw a report about 100 bodies found in U-Haul trucks outside of a funeral home in New York. My heart goes out to the families who’s loved ones were treated this way. There is no excuse.
To all of the essential workers, I applaud all of you for keeping the rest of safe and keeping the lights on.
Day 45 Over 3 Million Infections Worldwide
While still reporting deaths in the hundreds, New York and New Jersey are eyeing May 15th as a target date for reopening parts of their respective states. I’m not sure how bowling alley’s will fair, but I suspect that the Jersey shore crowd is ready to hit the beach. As for me, I think I am going to hold off on my next haircut.
Day 44 Still Cleaning My Attic
It’s raining and I am back cleaning up my attic. Today’s chore, going through a box of documents from 1999. What a wonderful trip down memory lane of the early part of my career. I scanned in the notes from the CEO congratulating me on a job well done, the performance reviews, awards and bonus letters. Someday, my grand kids may stumble upon old grandpa’s digital war chest and they will get a glimpse of the person I was.
Global COVID-19 cases are nearing 3 Million and the U.S. is closing in on the 1 Million mark for infections. Over 16,673 New Yorker’s have passed away due to COVID-19 as of 2 p.m. Sunday. New Jersey COVID-19 related deaths rose to 5,938 people.
Day 38 My Running Daily Count
The question is how am I only on Day 38. The reason, I started My Day count when my kids and spouse were officially ordered to Stay at Home! But I’ve been at home for more like 50 Days, but its sort of too late to change the count for me!
New York reported another decrease in deaths to 478, bringing the total number of deaths to 14,347. New Jersey’s deaths increased to 4,202. Connecticut reported nearly 1,130 deaths.
Day 35 Is it Time to Go Back to the Office?
Yes, I have been living in a bubble. The last week has been filled by calls to remove stay at home orders around the country. It seems that no one knows when it will be safe to leave our homes to resume “normal” life. But that has not deterred the President or some Governors from arbitrarily selecting dates out of a bingo machine.
So, if you’re more adventurous than I am, here is what the CDC is saying this hour.
New York reported that the city’s coronavirus death toll climbed to 722 new COVID-19 fatalities over 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 12,199 by Friday afternoon.
Day 34 Things are Getting Better, Right?
I am 34 Days into my quarantine, and I am doing well, at least mentally. Watching the news is a necessity, but its bringing me down.
In NJ, 17 bodies were found in a tiny morgue at nursing home. Sixty-eight people linked to a nursing home in Andover Township have died in recent weeks, including two staff members. Then watching people in Michigan and Ohio protest stay at home measures, endanger their lives and the lives of others.
Day 32 Paradigm Shift
I keep hearing that the Covid-19 pandemic will change the rest of our lives and to a certain extent I believe that it is true. Small business owners like me, have suffered irreparable financial damage and surviving looks unlikely. Future entrepreneurs may be unwillingly to launch new businesses because of the unpredictable impact of pandemics. Only large corporations will be financially supported. Right now, I am watching a farmer on TV destroy his crop because he can’t harvest it. Many businesses will disappear, along with the entrepreneurial spirit that inspired generations of Americans.
